New: AI Auto-Scheduling & Award Compliance build your roster in seconds.
About Rostey

We build the calm operating system for shift-based work

Rostey exists so the people running cafes, clinics, stores, sites and patrols can stop rebuilding rosters in spreadsheets and start leading their teams. One place for scheduling, time, compliance and payroll — with the award rules already worked out.

Why we started

Rostering was never the hard part. The admin around it was.

We kept meeting operators who knew their business inside out — and still lost their Sundays to a roster spreadsheet, a group chat full of shift swaps, and a shoebox of paper timesheets.

The software meant to help usually made it worse: enterprise tools priced per site, built for offices, and disconnected from the Modern Awards that actually decide what a Saturday shift costs.

A good roster should take minutes, not a weekend — and it should already know what it's allowed to do.

The principle Rostey was built on

Rosters lived in spreadsheets

Version control was whoever saved last. Availability, leave and skill gaps were kept in someone's memory.

Swaps happened in chat

Approvals disappeared into group messages, so the roster on the wall and the roster in payroll quietly drifted apart.

Award rules were guesswork

Penalty rates, break entitlements and overtime were applied by hand — and discovered later by a payroll audit.

Timesheets arrived late

Paper and screenshots meant pay runs were rebuilt from scratch, with errors absorbed by the business or the team.

So we built the opposite: one workspace that starts with the award, builds the roster on top of it, captures time where the work happens, and hands payroll a clean, approved timesheet.

How we work

Six principles we refuse to trade away

These are the rules we use when a feature is ambiguous, a deadline is tight, or a shortcut looks tempting.

Operator-first

We design for the person closing the till at 11pm, not the person buying the licence. If it adds a step to a busy shift, it isn't finished.

Compliance by default

Award rules belong in the product, not in a policy document. The safe path should also be the fastest path.

Show the working

Every calculated rate and warning explains itself. Managers should never have to trust a number they can't inspect.

Calm over clever

Automation should reduce noise, not create a new dashboard to monitor. We remove work instead of adding alerts.

Privacy is not a feature

Roster, pay and identity data are sensitive. Tenant isolation, least privilege and audit trails are table stakes, not upsells.

Real humans, real support

Support is staffed by people who understand awards, not a script. The person who answers can usually fix the problem.

Our story so far

Built in Australia, one shift at a time

Rostey is developed by Reyman Pty Ltd. We started with the roster because that's where the operational pain is loudest — then kept going until the whole employee lifecycle lived in one place.

Australian owned Award specialists Built for shift work
  1. 2024 — The beginning

A roster that understood the award

Rostey started with a simple bet: if the award rules were part of the schedule, compliance would take care of itself. Scheduling, GPS time capture and timesheet approval shipped as one loop.

  2. 2025 — Beyond rostering

From first shift to final payslip

Digital onboarding, document and licence tracking, and payroll exports to Xero and MYOB closed the gap between the roster and the pay run. Customers stopped re-keying anything.

  3. 2026 — A modular platform

Add the tools your operation actually needs

Forms and checklists, HR and onboarding, applicant tracking and AI-assisted auto-scheduling became optional add-ons — so a ten-person cafe and a sixty-site guarding company can run the same core.

The people behind Rostey

Small teams, close to the customer

We're a deliberately compact product company: engineers, award specialists and support people who speak to operators every week. There's no layer between the person with the problem and the person who can fix it.

That's also why our roadmap is boring on purpose. We ship the unglamorous things — correct penalty rates, reliable time capture, exports that balance — before anything that demos well but doesn't survive a Friday night.

We're hiring

Product, engineering and award compliance.

Get in touch

Product & engineering

Builds the scheduling engine, the award calculator and the mobile clock-in experience — with performance tested on a Saturday morning, not a staging dataset.

Award compliance

Translates Modern Awards and Fair Work guidance into rules the product can apply and explain, and reviews changes as they're handed down.

Customer success

Handles migration, award setup and the first few rosters with you. Most conversations start with a real roster, not a ticket form.

Trust & security

Owns tenant isolation, access control, audit logging and data handling — the parts customers are right to ask hard questions about.
