“With GPS geofencing and instant Xero integration, we shaved 6 hours off payroll every week and know exactly what our project labour costs are in real time.”
The challenge
Ironbark runs eight commercial construction sites simultaneously, each with its own crew of carpenters, labourers and subcontractors. Hours were captured on handwritten site sheets, delivered to the office on Fridays, then transcribed into spreadsheets before being keyed into Xero. Project managers had no reliable view of labour cost per site mid-project, allowance entitlements were applied inconsistently, and disputes over start times were common because nothing was time-stamped.
The Rostey solution
Every site is now set up as a GPS geofenced work zone. Workers clock on and off from the Rostey mobile app, and the platform only accepts an attendance record when the phone is inside the site boundary — verified against a facial photo check for the first clock-in of the day.
Hours are grouped by project and cost code, with award-based allowances and overtime applied automatically. Approved timesheets export to Xero in a single click, and project managers can see labour cost against budget for each live build from the Rostey dashboard.
- GPS geofenced clock-ins restricted to each active site boundary
- Building & Construction General On-site Award rules and allowances applied automatically
- Clock-ins grouped by project and cost code for true job costing
- Kiosk mode with facial verification for sites with shared tablets
- One-click approved timesheet export to Xero
The results
Payroll administration dropped by six hours every week and time disputes effectively stopped, because every attendance record is GPS-stamped and photo-verified. Project managers now spot a labour overrun on a given build days before it lands on the monthly report, letting them rebalance crews while there is still time to act.
- Six hours of payroll administration removed each week
- Real-time labour cost per project, not month-end guesswork
- Time disputes eliminated with GPS and photo-verified records
- Consistent application of site allowances and overtime
- Clean, audit-ready records for every worker on every site
What's next for Ironbark Commercial Construction
Ironbark now runs site inductions and daily pre-start safety checks through Rostey's Forms & Checklists add-on, with completed forms stored against each project.
