Rostering and client reporting
“Guarding contracts live and die on proof of attendance. Rostey gives our clients verifiable post coverage and gives our officers a safety net on lone night shifts.”
The challenge
Sentinel protects 60 commercial sites across metropolitan Melbourne with a mix of static guarding, mobile patrols and crowd control. Rostering was built around paper run sheets, shift swaps happened by phone, and night loadings under the Security Services Industry Award were applied by hand. Licence and crowd control endorsements sat in a filing cabinet, so verifying that every officer on a post held a current Class 1A licence was a manual cross-check — and lone workers on remote night sites had no structured safety check-in.
The Rostey solution
Rostey's scheduler holds every contracted site as a shift template with its own coverage requirements, so supervisors can fill a fortnight of guarding posts in a fraction of the time and immediately see any post still uncovered. Security Services Industry Award (MA000115) rules — permanent night loadings, weekend penalties, public holiday rates and overtime — are applied automatically.
Licence numbers, expiry dates and crowd control endorsements are stored against each officer, and the platform blocks an assignment when a credential is missing or expired. Officers on lone night shifts use the Rostey app to complete GPS-verified check-ins and raise a welfare alert if a scheduled check-in is missed.
- Security Services Industry Award (MA000115) night and weekend loadings automated
- Live post-coverage view with uncovered shift alerts
- Class 1A licence and crowd control endorsement expiry blocking
- Lone worker welfare check-ins with missed-check-in escalation
- GPS-verified clock-in evidence for client SLA reporting
The results
Sentinel has maintained 100% contracted post coverage since go-live, with missed shifts dropping to zero thanks to uncovered-post alerts and in-app shift claiming. Client reporting is now a scheduled export rather than a weekly rebuild, saving supervisors around six hours a week, and licence compliance is enforced by the platform instead of a filing cabinet.
- Zero missed posts and 100% contracted coverage
- Fully automated permanent night and weekend loadings
- Licence verification enforced at the point of assignment
- Structured lone worker safety check-ins on every night patrol
- Client SLA evidence generated automatically from GPS clock-ins
What's next for Sentinel Protection Group
Sentinel is deploying Rostey's Forms & Checklists to digitise site patrol logs, vehicle checks and incident reports so field documentation is captured on the officer's phone.
